Sommerfeld and Gonsalves to host HoF event

MARKHAM, Ont. - The Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame has announced that Lorraine Sommerfeld and Pat Gonsalves will host the Eighth Annual Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Banquet and Reunion scheduled to take place in Mississauga, Ont. on Saturday, Nov. 2.

"We are pleased that Lorraine Sommerfeld and Pat Gonsalves are joining us once again as Masters of Ceremony for the 2013 induction banquet," said Michael Harwood, Chair of the Hall of Fame. "It will be another great evening with Lorraine and Pat leading the celebration as we welcome the newest motorcycling legends and champions to the Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame."

"I am honoured to have been invited to co-host this special event," said Gonsalves, "because it is important that we recognize those distinguished Canadians who have made an exceptional contribution to our country's already rich motorcycling heritage."

"The Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Banquet and Reunion is one of the key motorcycling social events of the year," added Sommerfeld. "Last year, about 350 people gathered in Montreal to honour the inductees and I am very pleased to be part of what we expect to be another excellent event this year."

Award winning writer Sommerfeld has been immersed in the world of automotive writing for nearly eight years. Currently writing the weekly Drive, She Said column for the Globe & Mail, she was a featured columnist in the Wheels section of the Toronto Star for about five years. Perched on a motorcycle or piloting an RV, she's driven most types of vehicles, and in many parts of the world. She's currently the host of the popular Roger's Lemon Aid Car Show in Toronto, and still writes her weekly Motherlode column for the Hamilton Spectator.

Gonsalves has combined a career in sales and marketing with his passion and love for all aspects of motorcycling. He has spent almost 30 years in management and sales at Q107 (Corus Radio) and even longer as a motorcyclist having bought his first motorcycle at age 16. Over the past 30 years, he's announced from all of the major tracks in Canada and hosted dozens of Canadian Superbike and Supercross TV shows as the play by play announcer. He has also been the public address voice of the Daytona 200 for about 25 years at Daytona International Speedway.

The Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Banquet and Reunion is the annual signature event of the Canadian International Motorcycle Heritage Museum Foundation, a non-profit association with charitable status. It is governed by an independent board of volunteer directors located from coast to coast and is sponsored in part by the Motorcyclists Confederation of Canada (MCC).
